Well, I have been in KL for almost a week now. The flight here was very long, but I made it okay and was able to stay up for my first day of work.
Over the weekend I did some exploring. I found the large mall at the foot of the twin towers (Petronas towers) and tried some dishes at the food court. The next day I took the subway and found some good shopping. :)
Malaysian food is very good, and very cheap-- cheaper than cooking in most cases. There are a variety of Indian dishes (mostly southern Indian), Thai, Chinese, and several varieties of Malaysian. Lots of rice and noodles, and most are spicey. Also, fresh fruit juices abound, and they have a dessert called ais kacang that is similar to halo halo (the Filipino dessert made with ice, evaporated milk and candied fruits, beans, and corn).
KL is not very pedestrian-friendly-- sidewalks start and end abruptly, and drivers are crazy, not to mention the fact that they are coming from the opposite direction than what I expect.
The weather's been pretty good. It's rained 3 times for about 20 minutes each since I've been here. Mostly it is overcast, and occasionally you can smell the forest burning in Indonesia-- it's a lot like the fires we smell in Colorado.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get out too much this week because I've been home sick with a bad cold. I'm hoping to come back in to work tomorrow and then rest some more this weekend, so I may not be updating for a while.

I'll be heading out to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in just two weeks! Lots to do before I go . . .
